The main goal of the Health Sciences Library redesign was to work with existing content to develop new ways to display that information in a more consistent and logical way. I worked with Library staff to help them clearly delineate information into logical groupings and instituted a visual hierarchy to establish structure. These improvements were made with the user in mind to visually identify content offerings. Continual user testing of the website is mandated to help improve functionality and Library offerings.
In developing the site, I worked with Upstate’s Campus Web Technology team to migrate our existing website into their responsive framework within the Cascade CMS system. Working with their developers, I was able to create custom code for interface elements and other Library specific items for enhanced usability. This collaboration also created opportunities with the Library Archives and News sites to also have their own customizations within the CMS.
